Adult ADHD assessment: what to expect from the process
Long NHS waits put many people off. Here is what a private adult ADHD assessment involves, step by step.

Many adults recognise ADHD traits in themselves only later in life, often after a child or sibling is diagnosed. Waiting lists can run into years, which is why private assessment exists.
The process starts with screening questionnaires covering attention, impulsivity and how symptoms affect work, study and relationships, ideally with input from someone who knew you as a child.
A specialist clinical interview follows. You will get a written report explaining the outcome, whether or not the criteria for ADHD are met.
If a diagnosis is made, we talk through the options, from practical strategies to medication, and coordinate with your GP.
